Ramos Generales

Some of the best pastries we had on this trip in a unique setting.  Located on the water front in what was originally a general store.  The decor is in that theme with various items one would but in an old general store.

Each morning I visited I had the ham and cheese croissant which was very good.  They have a great variety of  pastries.  Every visit I bought at least 5 different ones.  The custard pastries  as well as the Dulce de Leche pastries were great and enjoyed them throughout the day. This is a great place for breakfast!

Chez Manu

It has been six years since I last ate here.  Things have not changed. Great view and great food.  Reservations are recommended but not necessary especially if you arrive around 8pm when they open. Attentive and knowledgeable staff seat you right away. They have a great wine list for regional wines. I ordered the Ribeye steak in pepper sauce. One friend had the Sea Bass and the other had the King Crab. Everything was delicious.  Dinner was topped off with dessert.  The chocolate cake with Heart Juice was the perfect ending.  By the way, heart juice is heated chocolate fudge in the middle that pours out when you cut into it.  Comes with a side of vanilla ice cream.

It is very pricey and not easy to get to but worth a splurge and effort for one big meal in Ushuaia.

La Tablita

We went here for dinner in this large but nice upscale restaurant.  They have an open pit BBQ grill when you come in which is cool.  We all were in the mood for beef and had the tenderloin. Unfortunately the beef was not seasoned at all and my order was over cooked.  One waiter seemed a little offended when we asked for pepper.  I had a side of sweet potato fries which were very good and the wine we had was the house wine and also very good.  However, since the beef was not season we would not eat here again.  There are many other restaurants to try in Calafate.
