Bodia Spa

This is a very nice spa that is tucked away on a side alley street. It is two floors and has two entrances next to each other. One is for a retail store of high end beauty products and the other is for the spa. After a long day of walking around Angkor, I wanted to treat myself to a foot massage and prepare for another day of walking.

The front desk and waiting area is very tranquil and soothing. They have a full menu of different massages and therapies. After a short wait I was lead upstairs to a room with about 6 or 7 reclining chairs. Very comfortable. The foot massage was very good. Probably the best I had on this trip.  I chose the one hour Reflexology Foot Massage. The cost was $24usd.

However, during my most recent visit in May 2017, I found the foot massage room to very hot and not comfortable at all.  Very surprising.

Purple Mangosteen

Interesting name for a hotel and restaurant. I’ve been going to Purple Mangosteen for lunch nearly exclusively this last visit to Siem Reap in 2017.  I typically order the chicken satay to start and a chicken cashew stir-fry. Both are consistently very good and the portion was great for the cost. The satay was $3 USD and the stir-fry was $4 USD.

Address: They are located in the west alley across from Sivatha Blvd.

Sugar Hut Restaurant

Sugar Hut was the best restaurant I ate in during my time in Pattaya.  However, if you do not have a car or scooter, it can be difficult to get to.  You can take the Pattaya shuttle that runs the main road for only 10 Baht and ask them to drop you off at the entrance to Sugar Hill Resort.  Once there you have to walk down the long driveway.

It is an open air restaurant with plenty of shade and fans.  I was dying for good food.  I ordered the chicken satay to start and the Pork Panang for the main course.  Both dishes were very good and if I had more time in Pattaya I would certainly eat here again.

Hours: Open all day (that is what I was told!)

Jasmin’s Cafe

Jasmin’s Cafe is another one of these restaurants that come up at the top of the list when searching for good restaurants.  However, I found it nothing but average but at a good price.  The atmosphere is very nice and very small.  There is not much seating.  I had the basic scrambled eggs, ham and toast.  It also came with sausage, but as you can see, it is really just a hot dog.  Strange for breakfast.

If you are staying in the area, Jasmin’s Cafe is not a bad option.  In fact it might be the best choice and that is not saying much.

Mae Sri Ruen

This is Pattaya’s version of a fast food restaurant.  While you still order your food at your table instead of a walk up counter, Mae Sri Ruen still gives off that fast food vibe.  Either way, the food was pretty good and really cheap. I had the chicken Pad Thai. I was able to eat dinner for about 90 Baht or a little over $2.25.  Pretty good deal.  A good place to stop in for a quick bite along the Beach Road.
