Cafe Du En-Amor

May 2014: This is a nice place for lunch near Wat Chedi Luang. It is attached to a clothing boutique by the same name. The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating but the indoor is great. Nice and cool to beat the heat in summer.

Great staff and very clean inside. I ordered a chicken curry dish that was small but very good. They have a very big menu with a lot of options.
Also had an ice cream dessert that was very good. Melted pretty fast even though it was cool inside. I would definitely go back again.

May 2014: This restaurant is very nice and a bit upper class. It is modern inside and out. Lighting is dim for dinner and sets a romantic atmosphere as you can see in the photos. I stopped in late when I arrived in Chiang Mai.

The wait staff were excellent and very attentive. I ordered a typical Thai dish, Pad Chicken and Cashew. It was great, the best I had in Chiang Mai. For dessert I ordered a chocolate cake however here was the only mistake of the evening. The wait staff bought out a chocolate mousse dessert. It was rather small and I wasn’t a fan. Good, but not what I ordered. They were very apologetic.

I would definitely return and try some of the other dishes.

May 2017: My Second visit was also very good.  This time I ordered the Chicken Satay and for the main course I had the Chicken Penang (red curry).  Both were very good but the Penang was a little on the small size with the portion.

Directions: On the Ping River near the Nawarat Bridge.

Single Speed Cafe

This is a great shop to stop in for breakfast.  It’s a small shop but easy enough to find.  You order at the counter, which the process is a little miss managed.  After ordering, it is not clear what to do.  Either sit at a table or wait on the side for your order and take it yourself?  Not explained at all and was a bit awkward.  When the food was ready, they handed it to me and I found myself a table.  The food is a very good.  I ordered the breakfast burrito.  They also appear to specialize in coffee, but I’m not a coffee drinker so can’t help you there.

I would definitely eat here again.  I was great for an early start before starting you hike for the day.

Camping – F.R. 164B

There are great camping opportunities in Coconino National Forest. The forest covers a huge area, all the way down to Sedona. I camped just below Mount Humphry, the highest mountain in Arizona at 12,600 feet. I found this forest road off route 180. There are only about 5-6 campsites along this section of forest road and I was lucky to get one. The campsites are set among Ponderosa Pines. Very quiet and tranquil. Just what I was looking for. The area has all sorts of dirt roads accessible to cars that run through the national forest that you can camp along.  There are no services and the sites are suitable to fit a small RV.

Directions: Route 164B is on the right when leaving Flagstaff toward Arizona SnowBowl off Route 180 just before SnowBowl road.
