I stayed here for 5 days and overall I enjoyed my stay with only a few bumps. The hotel is located fairly close to the night market area but it is in a quiet residential area down a dirt road. The room I had was on the second floor with a huge balcony. The room was always clean and the shower was hot when I needed it to be. They provide two complementary bottles of water each day. Breakfast was included in my stay.
They only have 7 rooms. I was the only one staying in the hotel at the time. It is very affordable. Well worth the money. They made arrangements with a Tuk Tuk driver for me to hire for the 5 days and take me to all the sites in Angkor. This was about $3USD more than if I went out on my own but I thought the hotel would recommend someone they used before. he worked out great.
The down side is the dirt road you have to walk to get to the night market. First, at night it is very dark. You do get some residual lighting from the residences along the way but Siem Reap has a tendency for the power to go off for about 20 minute between 10pm and 11pm. If you are stuck walking back at this time, you can’t see anything. The other issue is when it rains, as it often does in Cambodia the time of year I was there, it gets very muddy. But this aside, I would definitely stay at the Alliance again.
Unique Qualities: Quiet, convenient, inexpensive.
